New Build Rural Home

A bespoke new-build home designed for an elderly client, located on land adjacent to her son's property. The brief was to allow close family support while maintaining independence, dignity and quality of life.
The site previously contained unsightly modern agricultural buildings, which informed the architectural language of the new home. The design adopts a rural, agricultural character, using black cladding alongside locally sourced random coursed stone to manage costs while reinforcing a robust, contextual identity.
Large openings provide strong connections to the surrounding landscape and bring generous natural light into the home. The two-bedroom house is arranged over two floors, with services discreetly installed at ground floor level to allow future adaptation to single-level living if required.
Level thresholds, low switches and step-free access are carefully integrated, ensuring the home can respond to changing needs over time, all without compromising architectural quality or character.
