Residential Renovation

Detached House Reconfiguration

Detached House Reconfiguration

This project involved the redevelopment and internal reorganisation of a detached house that had undergone multiple unsympathetic extensions over time. While the property benefitted from spectacular countryside views, its key living spaces were poorly connected and the existing kitchen extension was small, dark and isolated.

The proposal rationalised the plan by removing ad-hoc additions and introducing a single, well-proportioned flat-roof extension to the rear. This new element connects directly to the main living spaces, opening up the house and allowing it to fully engage with the landscape beyond.

The reconfiguration also created a generous entrance hall, utility space and a new ground-floor bedroom to support adaptive living and changing client needs. The result is a coherent, light-filled home with improved flow, flexibility and a strong relationship to its setting.
